  • Emergency and injunction proceedings
  • Care proceedings in relation to children
  • Disputes between co-habitees
  • Civil partnership disputes
  • Child abduction
  • Collaborative law

Care / Supervision Order Proceedings - where Social Services issue Court proceedings against parents. We have vast experience of dealing with all types of care proceedings including those which relate to Children suffering non-accidental injuries. We undertake work on behalf of parents and children in these types of cases and attend in Harlow, Chelmsford, Hertford, Watford and London to carry out the related work. Legal Aid is available for care proceedings and is usually free.

Adoption Proceedings - where a person wishes to adopt a child. We act for prospective adopters who wish to adopt children and also for birth parents of children who may not consent to their child being adopted.  Means tested legal aid is available for this type of work.

Special Guardianship Orders - where a person other than a parent wants to offer long term care of a child. We have experience of giving advice and acting in Court for people that wish to apply for a Special Guardianship order for a child that they may be related to or be looking after on a long term basis. Special Guardianship allows for the person caring for the child to share Parental Responsibility with the parents. We advise on whether financial assistance may be available as part of the order. Legal aid is not often available for advice or representation in this area but the Local Authority (social services) are often willing to pay towards legal advice / representation.

Residence / Contact / Parental Responsibility (PR) We act for people that need Residence / Contact / PR orders. We are able to undertake work for Parents, Grandparents and other extended family members, including children. Obtaining Residence / Contact Orders can be very stressful and we are able to assist to ensure that the Children's needs are always put first. Legal Aid is available for this type of work but it is means tested.

Prohibited Steps / Specific Issue Orders - where a person wants to specifically be permitted to do something by a Court i.e. obtain a Passport or where a person needs to be stopped from doing something i.e. moving a child to a different school. we have lots of experience dealing with tricky cases involving the use of these orders. Legal aid may be available.

Injunctions - where a person needs protection from harassment. We can obtain and defend applications for Non-Molestation Orders (injunctions) and Occupation Orders (to remove someone from a property). Domestic Violence is very common and requires legal action. It is important that if an incident of domestic violence occurs that the Police are contacted in the first instance and that we are contacted immediately afterwards as the Court will be unlikely to grant an injunction unless the incident occurred very recently. These types of orders can also afford protection for Children.

Divorce / Ancillary Relief - it is always a difficult time when a divorce is considered. The emotional side can be very stressful as can sorting out the finances. We take a very conciliatory approach and try to avoid unnecessary animosity between parties, whilst ensuring that our client's best interests are always the main priority.  We can provide advice on all aspects of ancillary relief and will be honest about whether the client has realistic expectations.

We offer a fixed fee for 'straightforward' divorce petitions that do not involve children issues or finances of £700 plus VAT - which includes the Court Fees of £340.

Change of Name Deed - where a person wants to change their surname or the surname of their child. For and adult this costs £100 plus VAT and for a child £80 plus VAT.
